Coaching & Advisory

For leaders stepping into more, and those carrying more.

Executive coaching and confidential advisory for high-performing Directors, VPs, SVPs and C-suite executives. The more senior the role, the fewer people you can think out loud with. I work with you directly, in confidence, on what you are actually facing.

Services

Two ways to work with me.

Both draw on my 30+ years of global business experience and my training as an ICF Master Certified Coach. The difference is how we work together.

Executive Coaching

For Directors through C-suite executives stepping into a bigger role, or learning to lead through others. Engagements typically run 4 to 12 months, and many are sponsored by the leader’s organization.

How sponsored engagements work →

Confidential Advisory

A thought partner for the commercial calls, organizational politics and people decisions you can’t fully talk through inside the company.

Ongoing advisory
A monthly retainer, typically ten hours, drawn on as the month requires. Some months that is regular sessions. Others it is one conversation the day a decision lands.
Executive Intensive
Focused work on one high-stakes decision, relationship or moment.
The Relationship

Candid counsel, in confidence.

Whether you are stepping into a bigger role or already carrying one, the conversations stay practical and private. We work on the situations in front of you, as they happen.

Some sessions are about a decision you need to make. Others are about a relationship that isn’t working, or a pattern you keep running into. I’ll be candid with you, and I’ll stay on your side.

“A strategic thought partner for the decisions you can’t fully talk through anywhere else, inside or outside the organization.”

Working through a consequential decision

Say you are six months into a turnaround and deciding whether to replace a direct report. Here is how an advisory session on that call works.

Questions I would put to you
  • What would have to be true for this person to succeed in the role as it is now?
  • Who else has already formed a view, and how did it reach you?
  • What will the rest of the team conclude from the decision, and from its timing?
Assumptions we would test
  • That the gap sits with the person, and the mandate itself is sound.
  • That a replacement could start delivering before the turnaround needs results.
  • That waiting another quarter costs less than acting now.
What stays with you
  • The decision itself.
  • The timing.
  • How it is communicated, and to whom first.

What We Work Through

The situations that come up most

Each engagement starts from what is in front of you. These four come up again and again.

01

Decision Quality

How you make the big calls when the information is incomplete and the pressure is high.

02

Influence

Getting support for what matters from peers, boards and people you don’t control.

03

Cross-functional Dynamics

Getting functions that compete for the same resources to work toward the same result.

04

Sustained Scrutiny

Staying clear and steady while you’re watched closely from above, below and outside.

Confidentiality

What stays between us, and what a sponsor sees.

We agree the boundaries at the start, in writing, so nobody has to guess later.

Between us

Our conversations stay between us, within the limits of our agreement and the ICF Code of Ethics. You decide what to share, and with whom.

When your organization sponsors the work

Your sponsor sees your development priorities and your progress, at check-ins you lead. Session content stays with you, and so does any 360 report unless you choose to share it.

Fit first

The first conversation is thirty minutes, in confidence. We decide whether working together makes sense before anything else is agreed.

Company-sponsored engagement? The full process, roles and sponsor touchpoints are set out for HR and talent partners.

Who It Is For

Who I work with

The work fits best when three things are true.

Seniority

High-performing Directors and VPs stepping into bigger roles, and SVPs and C-suite executives, including founders and partners, carrying enterprise-level decisions.

Stakes

A transition, a bigger mandate, significant transformation, or leadership succession.

Mindset

Willing to hear what others may not be telling you, and to act on it.
